Jamie was really crying now but trying to muffle the sound.
I crawled off the bed, squeezing into the hard space between the mattress and the mat, and threw my arm over his shaking chest. I leaned my head against his hair and felt his tears, warm on my neck.
"Is Melanie still alive, Wanda? Please?"
He was probably a tool. The old man could have sent him just for this, Jeb was smart enough to see how easily Jamie broke through my defenses.
Jamie's body shook beside me.
Melanie cried. She battered ineffectually at my control.
But I couldn't blame this on Melanie if it turned out to be a huge mistake. I knew who was speaking now.
"She promised she would come back, didn't she?" I murmured. "Would Melanie break a promise to you?"
Jamie slid his arms around my waist and clung to me for a long time. After a few minutes, he whispered. "Love you, Mel."

“This place was truly the highest and the lowest of all worlds - the most beautiful senses, the most exquisite emotions.. the most malevolent desires, the darkest deeds. Perhaps it was meant to be so. Perhaps without the lows, the highs could not be reached.”

“I knew the human exaggeration for sorrow-a broken heart.”

“NO!" She shouted through my lips.
Jared caught her hands, then caught me against the wall before I could fall. I sagged, my body confused by the conflicting directions it was receiving.
"Mel? Mel!"
"What are you doing?"
He groaned in relief. "I knew you could do it! Ah Mel!"
He kissed her again, kissed the lips that she controlled, and we could both taste the tears that ran down his face.
She bit him.
Jared jumped back from both of us, and I slid to the floor, landing in a wilted heap.
He started laughing, "That's my girl. You still got her, Wanda?"
"Yes," I gasped.
What the hell, Wanda? She screeched at me.
Where have you been? Do you have any idea what I've been going through trying to find you?
Yeah, I can see that you were really suffering.”

“Though there was no sound, there was a change. The atmosphere, which had gone tense at my accusation, relaxed. I wondered how I knew this. I had a strange sensation that I was somehow receiving more than my five senses were giving me - almost a feeling that there was another sense, on the fringes, not quite harnessed. Intuition? That was almost the right word. As if any creature needed more than five senses.”

“Listen up, Wanda. I know exactly what you don't want to be. But we're human, and we're selfish, and we don't always do the right thing. We aren't going to let you go. Deal with it.”

“I stared into Jared's eyes, and the strangest thing happened. All the melting and melding I had just been through was shoved aside, into the smallest part of my body, the little corner that I took up physically. The rest of me yearned toward Jared with the same desperate, half-crazed hunger I'd felt since the first time I'd seen him here. This body barely belonged to me or to Melanie-it belonged to him.”

Sorry I overdid my insane love for this book. :D Am I glad I listen to you sometimes.:P (hope u get wht i mean)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8338180660689120932.post-44712330980796660922011-09-08T02:47:36.935+05:302011-09-08T02:47:36.935+05:30Great Review =D ! It describes it exactly as it is, It has Nothing totally Nothing to do with the Twilight Saga, I've read it over 6 times and I still read it again, Stephenie knows how to express anything in so many different prespectives and point of views, and this book is my favorite till now although I've read a thousands books, nothing has ever been compared to "The Host" ... I too noticed it once I got past the novelty of the story. And if you directly read Breaking Dawn, no wonder about the bad after-taste.

This book isn't really about people putting everything else at stake for their love. No, in fact no one does that over here, now that you mention it! It's a very different book as compared to the Twilight series, you should definitely try reading it.

Though I don't know you well enough, so I can't say how much you'd enjoy it...

If ever you read it, do let me know how you liked it (or not).Aayushi Mehtahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08360324719537614250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8338180660689120932.post-60202771800614965492011-09-02T10:10:45.354+05:302011-09-02T10:10:45.354+05:30I think Meyer has this recurring thing with writin...I think Meyer has this recurring thing with writing about people from different worlds who arent supposed to fall in love, but they do and put everything else at stake for this Love.

Still, it'll take a lot of convincing me to pick this one up. I still have a bad after-taste from when a cousin made me read three chapters of Breaking Dawn.Tangled up in blue...https://www.blogger.com/profile/09863311350462955038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8338180660689120932.post-66917778669324904712011-09-02T01:28:51.881+05:302011-09-02T01:28:51.881+05:30Nice touch with the quotes you did there... :-)Nice touch with the quotes you did there... :-)mgeekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02204026245715229205noreply@blogger.com
